The windows are equipped with up-down honeycomb blinds, double glazing, and tilt-and-turn mechanisms, balancing privacy with ventilation. Lockable screen doors enable airflow even on the warmest nights.

The central living area is warmed by a low-emission Pyroclassic IV wood-burning stove, featuring an interior ceramic chamber that radiates heat long after the fire has subsided. The kitchen overlooks the dining area and includes a 900mm Fisher and Paykel induction stove, with countertops extending to form a breakfast bar. A walk-in pantry is designed to accommodate the refrigerator and offers space for an appliance station or an additional sink.

The main bathroom is equipped with a water-saving Japanese-style soaking tub and a separate powder room for added privacy. Both bathrooms feature spacious walk-in showers, and hot water is supplied by an instantaneous Sanden Eco-Plus pump. The separate laundry and mudroom are plumbed for an energy-efficient heat-pump dryer. Water for the toilets and washing machine is sourced from a backyard tank, which can be switched to mains supply during drier periods.

The house is elevated on a steel platform to remain above creek level, with substantial irrigation managing runoff. The garden design includes a mix of native and cottage plants surrounding salvaged wooden decks, with banksia roses and clematis flourishing. There is space allocated for a shed, studio, and vegetable garden, and established fruit trees are located adjacent to a historic orchard.
